Abu Dhabi’s Priory Wellbeing Centre expands services to incorporate family medicine

Dr Mohanned Noor Elimam Abdallah, Specialist Family Physician at Priory Wellbeing Centre, Abu Dhabi

The Priory Wellbeing Centre, Abu Dhabi, will now offer specialist family medicine services for patients for the first time in the UAE, providing expert support for acute, chronic and preventative health issues, in addition to health screening and counselling on healthy lifestyle choices.

Located at its state-of-the-art facilities in Al Bateen, this new service will be a welcome addition to the Centre’s existing provision of mental health support in the region, further enhancing its comprehensive portfolio of support for patients.

Headed by Dr Mohanned Noor Elimam Abdallah, a vastly experienced specialist family physician, the wide range of family medicine services delivered in Arabic and English will include:

  • Acute illnesses and diagnostics
  • Chronic disease management
  • Diabetes care, treatment and management
  • Gynaecological consultation and treatment
  • Health screening and counselling on healthy lifestyles
  • Paediatric care
  • Pregnancy care
  • Preventative health consultations
  • Skin conditions care
  • Urgent care for minor injuries

Dr Noor says: “Our new provision of family medicine services aims to offer comprehensive support to patients covering everything from the diagnosis, treatment and management of health conditions, such as colds and flu, to longer-term illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.

“Now more than ever we are encouraging people in the UAE to look after their physical health and tackle any health issues they may have neglected over the last 18-24 months, as a result of the pandemic.

“Physical ill health can have huge repercussions on our mental health, so it makes perfect sense for the Priory to expand into this area and help raise awareness of how they are intrinsically linked. For example, it is common for patients who are taking long-term medication for chronic health conditions to also suffer from symptoms of depression and anxiety. It is therefore vital for patients to pay equal attention to both their physical and mental health.”

The new addition to the Abu Dhabi Wellbeing Centre – opened in 2021 – represents an important extension of the Priory’s capabilities in the UAE. Existing facilities include a Wellbeing Centre in Dubai, which opened in 2017, and Al Karamah School, the first dedicated autism school in the UAE. Al Karamah School was launched in 2019 in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge.

Will Goodwin, Chief Operating Officer, Priory Middle East, adds: “We are thrilled to be growing our services into family medicine and, as with our mental health provision, we are committed to offering exceptional quality, evidence-based care which is centred around patients, resulting in the best possible outcomes.

“Through this additional service provision, we look forward to broadening the reach of our world-class facilities to the wider community of Abu Dhabi, as part of our continuing expansion across the region.”
