From diagnostics to digital transformation: How FUJIFILM is redefining healthcare innovation

In this exclusive interview, Middle East Health talks to Shin Tagawa, Managing Director of FUJIFILM Middle East & Africa, about value-driven innovation, digital transformation and FUJIFILM’s expanding role in shaping healthcare across the MEA region.

Middle East Health: FUJIFILM is participating once again in WHX Dubai 2026. What is the key message you will be delivering at your booth?

Shin Tagawa: Our core message is clear and simple: FUJIFILM is a one-stop healthcare solutions partner supporting the entire patient journey.

From screening and diagnostics to treatment support, workflow optimization and digital transformation powered by AI, we bring together innovation to improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and sustainability. WHX Dubai provides the ideal platform to demonstrate how our broad portfolio works as a connected ecosystem rather than isolated technologies.

Middle East Health: Can you highlight some of the new products being launched during WHX Dubai 2026?

Shin Tagawa: At WHX Dubai, we are showcasing several new and upgraded solutions across our portfolio.

One key highlight is the Echelon Synergy Zero Helium MRI. This groundbreaking 1.5T MRI uses direct cooling technology to eliminate the need for liquid helium – a costly and scarce resource – making MRI more sustainable, affordable and easier to install while delivering high-quality imaging with AI enhancement.

Another addition to our portfolio is the FDR Go iQ, a compact, quiet and highly manoeuvrable mobile X-ray system that delivers high-quality bedside imaging, combining a retractable column and smooth handling for easy navigation in tight clinical spaces with FUJIFILM’s proven image quality and dose efficiency.

We are also expanding on the success of our Ultrasound ARIETTA series with the all-new AI-Enabled “DeepInsight X” series which features improved B-mode image quality of the heart, abdomen and vascular applications, newly added high quality and high frequency probes, upgraded user interface and bigger size high resolution monitor with high-contrast image quality.

Furthermore, we are debuting our cardiovascular imaging business line for the first time globally, engineered to elevate precision, safety and clinical performance for cardiac, neuro and peripheral interventions.

Middle East Health: How does FUJIFILM differentiate itself from other healthcare technology companies?

Shin Tagawa: Our differentiation is built on three pillars: breadth of portfolio, depth of expertise and human-centric innovation.

Few companies offer such a comprehensive range of diagnostic, imaging and healthcare IT solutions under one umbrella. Combined with our strong R&D heritage, Japanese engineering excellence and close collaboration with clinicians, we deliver solutions that are clinically relevant, operationally efficient and future ready.

For us, innovation goes beyond products. Our guiding principle “Value from Innovation” means end-to-end support, from pre-sales clinical education and solution design to training, service and long-term lifecycle partnership.

Middle East Health: What are FUJIFILM’s plans for the MEA region?

Shin Tagawa: Our MEA strategy is driven by sustainable growth and meaningful healthcare impact.

Saudi Arabia is a key growth market, where our direct presence enables closer collaboration with healthcare authorities and hospital groups, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

In Africa, we continue to expand our footprint with a strong focus on access to quality diagnostics and early detection, including our ongoing commitment to fighting tuberculosis through early screening programs.

The UAE remains a strategic hub and centre of excellence. A key part of our UAE strategy is the expansion of our Nura centres, including an upcoming facility in Jumeirah scheduled to open in the first half of 2026. These centres leverage our latest AI-powered screening technology to provide comprehensive cancer and lifestyle-based health screenings in under 120 minutes, reinforcing our mission to improve quality of life through the power of early detection and preventive care.

To experience the full breadth of our innovation, we invite healthcare professionals to visit the FUJIFILM Technology Center in Dubai for hands-on engagement with our integrated solutions.
